Windows 7 Ultimate from VHD

Now that I switched to Ultimate, I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on my work laptop from a VHD. I am able to boot back to XP if needed, and my original harddrive is now my D: drive. it's great. Unfortunately, after spending way too many hours trying to make this work, I just learned that you can not setup Windows 7 to boot from a VHD with Windows 7 professional, only Ultimate and Enterprise. Freezing your hard drive

Today has been an interesting day. The hard drive on my laptop died. It has been acting up for a few days and I kept saying "I need to back everything up before it dies".
