Tony Wissler My... Blog...

Question for everyone out there who could give me a minute or two...

I finally got my brand new, higher-end laptop and I want to know - is anyone out there running Vista Business or Vista Ultimate on their everyday development machine?

If I have read one then I have read three dozen blogs, knowledge base articles and blurbs about the pitfalls of using Visual Studio v6, 2002, 2003 and 2005 on Vista.  I know about the common problems, the work arounds and what not.

What I want to know is...  Who out there is using Vista and trudging through it all and what are your thoughts!

Thanks-

I think VS2005 runs perfectly fine on Vista. You only *have* to run as administrator when you're working with ASP.NET, otherwise you can run it normally. Debugging and everything works fine.

VS2003 will work for everything but ASP.NET development, even though it's not supported.

Haven't tried VS6 and older. The newer versions will do everything I need.

Works great for me too. MS Just release the SP1 Update for Vista which also fixes more stuff when running on Vista. Still need to run as admin though.

happy coding ;-)
