$100 Laptop
This is truly amazing. A non profit group out of MIT is putting together a program to distribute a $100 laptop designed for students. The machines will be given to children in a number countries with the idea being that they can take the machines home with them and continue the learning process outside of school. Despite cost-cutting, these machines will be robust. Negroponte envisions a Linux-based, full-color, full-screen laptop that will use innovative sources of power--including wind-up--and ......

Next time ......

Tablet PC Education Pack
I was checking out the videos on Channel9 and saw this awesome one for the Tablet PC Education Pack. Check it out, the equation editor looks great. It's something I wish I had back when I was in University. I used to spend hours cranking out lab reports and papers and the equations took about half my time just to get them correct. Plus the fact that you can store and search notes and include equations in those notes at about the same speed that it takes to write on paper makes this an incredible ......

Northern Voice 2006

I was meaning to follow up with Darren about this but his post beat me to it.

So Northern Voice 2006 is a go for next February, and this year there will be a pre-conference Moose Camp in the style of the Foo and Bar camps.

Read all about it here on the Northern Voice 2006 site.

Some Bush Stuff
I know these pictures of Shrubya are fake, but they're just too funny. On another note, it looks like there's a movement going to Impeach Bush not only for lying about Iraq but also about the mess regarding the response to Katrina. And finally, can Barbara Bush be any more insensitive? WTF lady ......

Working With Windows Vista
I just read this announcement a little while ago but it looks like the company I work for is on the list of Microsoft ISV clients that are confirming that they will be creating new version of our software which leverage the upcoming Windows Vista framework. Very neat. I look forward to getting into the guts of Vista and WCF (even though it may not be for a while). I'm not saying which company I'm talking about though, I'll let you figure that one out. Hint: I work in the CRM industry. Read all about ......

West Coast Code Camps
So it looks like there is going to be a Seattle Code Camp targeted for the weekend of October 22-23. I'm still thinking about that one. Although it's not as far as Portland I'm not sure I'll be available then. Is anyone else from Vancouver thinking of going down for it? And speaking of Vancouver and Code Camps, Rob was speculating about having a Vancouver Code Camp. Is anyone else interested in that? I would be. Maybe Rob and I need to get together and start something... Anyone else up for helping ......

Oracle and Siebel

I just wanted to point to these interesting pieces on the recent acquisition of Siebel by Oracle.

It's just opinion, but I've used both systems in the past and I'm not a big fan of either. It makes me wonder about the future of Oracle now.

The Onion on Katrina

I've been really busy lately and work has just bogged me down. I can't seem to make alot of headway lately, which explains the lack of posts.

I just wanted to link out to The Onion and these awesome bits about Hurricane Katrina. My favourite “Government Relief Workers Mosey In To Help“.

More to come when I get some time.
