I'd Rather Be Coding Jay Glynn thinking out loud.
Spent a week in Redmond at the Publisher and Author Summit. This is a great event. Jan Shanahan and her group did a great job of managing the event (thanks again Jan). The great thing about this event is that it is small in comparison. For example Jack Greenfield gave a talk on software factories and there were 6 or 7 in the room. It's great to be able to ask a question or make a point in situations like this. This is the one thing that I don't like about conferences like TechEd. You don't have the access to the speakers and to the Microsoft employees like you do at the smaller venues like the Pub Summit. There were 2 highlights form the week (non-technical). During a talk a very well known author and speaker kept making comments about each thing the speaker was saying. Finally someone said "Are you going to make a comment on everything he says or will we be able to get through the talk" in a very loud voice. It was a small blow to a huge ego and was pretty funny to boot. The other was taking a ride with Jeff Julien, John Alexander and Neil Whitlow through the mountains on Saturday afternoon. Who would have thought that they would have closed Mt Rainier. Posted on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 4:35 PM General Rants | Back to top
