Guitar Hero 3 for 360 Off Key

Monday, October 29, 2007 5:49 AM

My wonderful awesome wife surprised me by getting Guitar Hero 3 for me on Sunday! I came home from my trip to Minneapolis to find the 360 GH3 bundle waiting for me, including the guitar carrying case. My wife rules!

This morning I went to play it, but for some reason none of the notes were registering. The buttons on the neck were showing up, but they wouldn't play. Now...I did go through the configuration screen and configure the controller...which makes me wonder if in a fog of lack-of-sleepness I was totally forgetting to STRUM while pressing on the neck. That's what I'm hoping anyway because as blogs like this one have noted, there are a LOT of issues with the new guitar controller, all seeming to stem from the new two-part architecture.

So my advice, if you want to avoid all possible headaches, would be to pick up one of the GH2 and GH3 bundles that Best Buy was selling (up here anyway...$130 got you GH2 with the GH2 controller and a standalone GH3 game). Or you can roll the dice, but know what the return policy at your store is.

This seems to be more of a 360 issue than a Wii issue...some PS3 comments as well.

Edit: Yeah, it was a PEBCAX (Problem exists between controller and Xbox)...I must not have been strumming...its all good now!

A few articles describing the same issue...maybe it wasn't me not strumming...

GH3 for Wii worked great yesterday. It is a different controller (embeds Wiimote) but does have the two-part structure. 10/29/2007 8:38 AM | Aaron

Yeah, I think the Wii one will work better because the guitar actually uses the Wii-mote to do all the connection...where the 360 controller is a full controller with all the connectivity parts.

At least for the 360 we can pick up an older model controller if need be...PS3 people are totally screwed with having to use the new one apparantly.
