The Madden Curse Strikes Again!

Monday, September 25, 2006 8:45 PM

Mua ha ha! It happened again! Shaun Alexander is out indefinately according to this ESPN article (3-5 weeks according to others), but what's more interesting is that the curse of the Madden cover star is being brought to the forefront yet again. The list below is from the article, where they show what's happened to recent cover stars:

Shaun Alexander, Seahawks
Non-displaced fracture in foot

Donovan McNabb, Eagles
Sports hernia in first game of season; team divided by feud with T.O.

Ray Lewis, Ravens
First season without INT, missed last game of season with broken wrist

Michael Vick, Falcons
Fractured right fibula day after game hit shelves

Marshall Faulk, Rams
Ankle injury, never again broke 1,000 yards for season

Daunte Culpepper, Vikings
Struggled to 4-7 before season-ending knee injury

Eddie George, Titans
Career year, but key turnover led to playoff loss

Barry Sanders, Lions
(shared cover with Madden)
Abruptly retired week before training camp

John Madden
Introduced Turducken and began the tradition of horribly inane comments during color commentary such as "The team that has more points at the end of the game is gonna win it."

Beware of the curse players, beware...
