Congrats to the Hurricanes, they were the better team tonight. Edmonton just didn't seem to have the same desire or want...well, until the last 10 minutes of the third period. Bad passes, players just standing still looking around instead of finding the puck and attacking it, bad penalties...these were all things that Carolina didn't do, and as a result, they're the winners.
Edmonton did something pretty amazing though. They went from a “no chance in hell” to “well, they squeeked in and will be out in the first round” to having all of Canada cheering them on. And let's not forget that they had some amazing games in this series...its just tonight that they were outplayed.
And when you look at the individual stories of the Hurricanes, like Brindamour, Doug Weight, Eric Staal...you can't feel bad about them winning.
And now...on to Football!
