Brian Scarbeau Insights from a seasoned Computer Science Trainer
I woke up this morning excited that it's the first day of school. Teachers at my school started last week with a multitude of meetings and room preparation. However, today was the first day of school and I'm sure you all can remember the hustle and bustle of getting ready for your first day of school and how anxious or excited that your parents got when you left the house. Today marks my 28th first day! My daughter who was visiting her sister in Washington DC even sent me a text message on my cell to wish me luck. How cute! I was asking my new students today if they still celebrate first day of school as a high school student and some said they did and others didn't want to admit it. One senior boy shared that his mom cried as he left the house because she couldn't believe he was a senior. I'll be teaching AP Computer Science, Honors Programming, Digital Design, Web Design and an Introduction to Computer Science. Many preps but nice classes to teach. The challenge I now have is to get to know my students names this week. I'll have a cheat sheet which is my roster with pictures of my students but it's always nice to greet my students on campus by their first name. Wish me luck.
