Yesterday, I had the task of rebuilding my Smoothwall Linux Firewall box as I had upgraded the red and and green ethernet cards in order to take advantage of the increased speed available on my broadband connection.

To aid this process I downloaded an up to date ISO image from http://www.smoothwall.org/ (this was the SmoothWall Express 3.0 SP3 Installation CD (iso image) which come in 2 versions 32-bit and 64-bit)

The installation was very easy except for the fact that I now had two identical cards so identifying which was the red card and which was the green card was guesswork.

In retrospect, I realise that I could have logged in using the Setup account to get the new cards recognised.
