According tp Jay Baz ( here ) the devs at Microsoft are currently enjoying a bit of slack time between product cycles.

The news coming out of Microsoft this week has all been a bit slow as we all wait with baited breath for VS2005 to ship on MSDN, it's like the calm before the storm.

I'm off to DDD2 on Saturday so it had better have shipped by then because I know a few developers that are going to explode if they don't get it soon (Ian).

Not so much "exploded", but disappointed because the criteria for using it on a new project was that Microsoft met the October 14th date they'd given us as the likely MSDN release date. What's disappointing is not just at the continually changing dates/reasons for delay from different Microsoft sources - but the fact that even Microsoft staff are annoyed about the lack of openness on the dates and the reasons for delay. I just hope that the version that will undoubtedly be available on November 7th (too much egg on face otherwise) is solid.
