Build - Not all it could be.
Programming for Metro Metro is the future .NET is for old apps. WinRT replaces WPF & WCF. XAML is big. There were no Silverlight sessions. HTML 5 and Javascript ( Blend for HTML) are back in fashion – I wont dwell on this because web apps are (inconsistently) simplistic in concept and over-complex in development. Yes, all those XAML skills are portable, Silverlight (RIP) apps can run as Metro apps with a bit of fidgeting with namespaces – you just need to know what controls ......

Stop writing ViewModels and start using T4 !!!!
If you hate being a mindless drone in some Illogical software sweatshop, switch to T4. Note that you cannot use reflection - you must use EnvDTE or your VS instance will lock. Use the T4Toolbox to access the current TransformContext to pull classes from files. Apply an iteration to generate properties in the target class that use the model source class for backing properties and change notification. It just works! <#@ templatedebug="true" hostSpecific="true" #> <#@ outputextension=".cs" ......

MVVM DSLs and XAML Binding Abstractions
I dont know about you, but last year I suffered from MVVM overdose. I literally felt sick having to go through the rote task of building the same old Prism modules and building the same old ViewModel to abstract my Model, setup my bindings in my view .... again and again and again and again .... ad nausium. Now that I've had a break from client side information system dev, I can think about it from a different perspective. I've leveraged and investigated the following technologies. 1) Cinch from ......

Silverlight 5.0 / WPF 5.0 - not quite there yet!
Merge Wpf and Silverlight to single framework · Merge both frameworks to use the same assemblies and controls (with optional functionality in separate assemblies) make a .net silverlight profile that would be a subset of .net client profile and used by partially trusted xaps. · Conditional compilation within Xaml - stopgap solution: for Silverlight/WPF differences in shared markup. · Support the direct hosting of Silverlight – stopgap solution: support the direct hosting of Silverlight in a WPF application ......

2010 - the Singularity is still over the event horizon
this year I had the pleasure of cramming the following information into my lobes: Book: Schuams Graph Theory - - a subset of combinatorics. From my perspective, just use linear algebra - you can bash anything into vectors. some interesting stuff on platonic solids and the 3 color world map. SD - shortest distance SP - shortest path bipartite graph - 2 disjoint sets ......
